[ltr]WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump said Monday he prefers to hold a historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on the inter-Korean border.[/ltr]
[ltr]"A lot of countries are considering hosting the meeting (with the North Korean leader), but will the Peace Palace on the border between North and South Korea be more representative and more important than a third country?" Trump quipped.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Panmunjom village, which includes the Peace Palace, hosted a historic summit on Friday between the leaders of the two countries, which pledged to seek peace and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.[/ltr]
[ltr]The village lies on the South Korean side of the demilitarized zone between the two countries.[/ltr]
[ltr]US President Donald Trump said a meeting with the North Korean leader could be held in the next three to four weeks, adding that five places were under consideration to host the upcoming summit.[/ltr]
[ltr]Trump surprised the world last March, when he accepted an invitation from the North Korean leader for a direct meeting.[/ltr]
[ltr]A senior South Korean official said after talks at the White House that the two leaders would meet by May to reach an agreement to remove nuclear weapons from the Korean Peninsula.[/ltr]
