Shafaq News / Parliament of Kurdistan Region announced on Sunday, its support for the elected president , Fuad Masum , asking him to exercise his role in addressing the problems between the region and the federal government

A statement of the presidency of the parliament received by “Shafaq News" that “ the speaker of parliament , Yusuf Mohammed Sadiq has called by telephone to offer congratulations on his accession to the post of President of the Republic, wishing the relationship to return between the regional parliament and the president of the republic and benefit the citizens of the region
.
He also expressed his wishes that the President of the Republic would exercises his role in addressing the existing problems between Erbil and Baghdad
.
There are old disagreements between Baghdad and Erbil on conflict zones , management of oil wealth , the budget of Peshmerga forces and the distribution of powers and other files
.
However, the differences exacerbated in an unprecedented manner in recent months because of the region's efforts to export its oil individually and Baghdad objected on it
.
Tension has increased between the two sides after Peshmerga forces have been deployed in conflict zones after the withdrawal of the Iraqi army in front of them a surprise attack by ISIS militant and Kurds announcement that they will not turn back again
.
For his part, Masum expressed, according to the statement, his thanks to the President of Kurdistan Parliament, and hoped that the relations between the federal government and Kurdistan region would be based on the Constitution and the law and solve all the problems as soon as possible
.
The Iraqi Parliament has elected Masum as President of the Republic of Iraq, at a meeting last week after receiving 211 votes out of a total of 275 MPs who attended the session to be the second character holds the position after his predecessor, President Jalal Talabani, who served for two sessions
