Iraq plans to organize an international conference to discuss the possible final solution to the problem of the Mosul Dam, after warnings collapse.
The Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Water parliamentary Furat al-Tamimi, told all of Iraq [where], "The Ministry of Water Resources about to hold a major international conference at the end of the month of February or the beginning of next month for the Mosul Dam."
He added, "According to our information, the ministry will call experts to explain the development of the dam and the suffering of the technical problems," adding that the conference "is also an opportunity to find a lasting solution to the problem with the agreement of Iraqi and international experts with experience in this field."
Several international reports have warned of the possibility of the collapse of the Mosul dam because of the fragile soil on which the body of the dam.
The newspaper quoted daily Millie British in an article published on the Mosul Dam on 13 December last warning of the architects of the company [Trevi] Italian competent Thazirhm, Dams from the collapse of the Mosul Dam, who have been working for 11 months to repair.
The newspaper said that "the company's engineers have warned of the collapse of the Mosul Dam, which will succeed the collapse destroyed more harmful than Nowih, bomb as the affected portion of the collapse of one million and a half million people," indicating that "the collapse of the dam would lead to a humanitarian catastrophe in Iraq and floods up to parts of the capital Baghdad. "
Iraq has signed a contract with the group [Trevi] worth 273 million euros [$ 296 million] for the restoration and repair of Mosul Dam over 18 months.
Mosul Dam by building multiple defects since its inception in the eighties has been built on unstable ground, and repeatedly warned the US and local officials from that gallery to collapse.
As long as the Iraqi government confirmed Ttminha on the status of the dam, despite published guidance on how to avoid damage to its collapse.
