Shafaq News/ The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, said on Wednesday that the Iraqi government is in the process of studying the Chinese experience in building schools and addressing the shortage of buildings in the Ministry of Education.
This came in a speech on the sidelines of his visit to Diwaniyah Governorate, and his meeting with the head of its local government, heads of its administrative units, directors of service departments and security leaders in the governorate.
In his speech, Al-Hakim stressed the end to the phenomenon of caravan schools spreading in the country, and said, "Iraq, with its culture and civilization, has students sitting in caravan schools, and this is unacceptable."
He pointed out that "there is a model prepared by the federal government regarding the experience of Chinese schools to benefit from Iraqi capital and from Iraqi investors to build schools, and the government in turn rents them from them for years."
Al-Hakim continued by saying that all of this will help solve the problems of double shifts and the shortage of school buildings.
Iraq needs to establish approximately 8,000 schools to fill the deficit in school buildings, due to which some schools have resorted to implementing double or even triple shifts.
