Parliamentary services demand that the laws be returned to them

The Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee called on the government to resend a number of laws that it had withdrawn during the last period, including slums, in addition to amending the Housing Fund Law, as well as the Baghdad Capital Law to resolve the intersection of powers.
Committee member Mahdia Al-Lami said in an interview with Al-Sabah: “The current government is a government of services in accordance with the legal and constitutional contexts, and on the other hand there is a supervisory side that conducts field visits to find out the latest developments in providing services to the areas that desperately need them,” noting that “The committee follows up a group of projects and works to ensure high coordination between institutions, leading to new plans, successful projects, and streamlined work.”
Al-Lami added, “The services provided to Baghdad Governorate are not commensurate with the shortage therein, and they are certainly not in harmony with the size of the requirements and problems. Therefore, Baghdad needs a service renaissance from the Baghdad Municipality and the Baghdad Governorate, as they are the executive hubs of the capital,” pointing out that “the engineering effort team is implementing Services in deprived areas that the municipality or the governorate cannot provide due to legal problems, and if they provide them, it depends on the humanitarian or relief aspect.”
She explained that “the committee studied the slum law, in addition to holding a number of hosting events to find out the merits of the issue, and we see that slums were established in areas where housing is not permitted, and therefore the law that arrived from the government did not take into account the extent of the problem that these areas suffer from,” stressing that “ The committee returned the draft law to the government to study it and solve the problem in a radical way that does not diminish the rights of the citizen and the government.
She continued, “The committee is serious about drafting laws that affect the lives of citizens, most notably amending the Iraqi Housing Fund Law, which serves the citizen to obtain a housing unit, in addition to the Capital Law, which was approved to solve the intersections in providing services, which is an eternal problem.”
