Officials of the Indian Oil Company (IOC) announced on Friday the signing of a contract to import 80 thousand barrels of Iranian oil per day.

According to the latest information from Indian maritime navigation, India's import of Iranian oil has decreased by 2 percent in the first half of this year and amounted to 151 thousand and 100 barrels per day.

In May, India imported 487,600 barrels of Iranian crude, less than 9 percent of its imports from Iranian oil in April and less than 40 percent of its imports in October.

This comes at a time announced by the Indian oil minister last month that Indian refineries seek to reduce the level of import of Iranian oil during the years 2017-2018.

He said Iran's deadline to pay the amount from 90 days to 60 days was the reason for reducing the level of imports of Iranian oil.

The Indian minister had earlier referred to the difference between Iran and India on the development of the gas field Farzad, saying that if the two sides did not agree in this regard, India will reduce the import of Iranian oil to one fifth of what it is now.

On the other hand, Iran confirmed that the delay of the Indian company NGC in the implementation of its financial obligations towards the development of the gas field Farzad is the reason for Iran's dissatisfaction with the Indian side, noting that it has placed on its agenda agreement with foreign companies to develop the gas field Farzad.
