[ltr]Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz expressed his hope that his scheduled visit to Russia on Thursday will help the countries to promote and develop relations and serve the common interests and efforts to achieve international peace and security.[/ltr]
[ltr]This came during a meeting of the Council of Ministers held Tuesday afternoon, at the Peace Palace in Jeddah (west), headed by King Salman, according to the Saudi Press Agency.[/ltr]
[ltr]He expressed his hope that his visit to the Russian Federation and his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian officials will help the two countries to promote and develop their bilateral relations in all fields in a way that serves the common interests and efforts to achieve international peace and security.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Saudi monarch will travel to Russia on a "state visit" on Thursday, October 5, at the invitation of Putin.[/ltr]
[ltr]"During the visit, bilateral relations and means of enhancing them in various areas of cooperation will be discussed, as well as regional and international issues of common concern," the official statement said.[/ltr]
[ltr]A number of agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries are expected to be signed during the visit.[/ltr]
[ltr]On the other hand, welcomed the Saudi cabinet to the accession of the State of Palestine to the International Criminal Police Organization "Interpol" after the vote of 74 countries with the resolution at the meetings of the General Assembly in Beijing.[/ltr]
[ltr]He said that "this is a political achievement and a success of the Palestinian struggle and joint Arab action to consolidate the status and role of Palestine on the international scene."[/ltr]
[ltr]The State of Palestine was admitted to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) during the UN General Assembly in Beijing on September 27.[/ltr]
[ltr]INTERPOL is the largest international police organization established in 1923 and headquartered in Lyon, France.[/ltr]
