The parliamentary Finance Committee announced on Saturday that it discussed with the Central Bank mechanisms to implement the decision to stop all financial and banking transactions with Kurdistan and not to sell foreign currency to banks operating in northern Iraq.
"The committee held a meeting with officials of the Central Bank to follow up the mechanisms of implementation of the decisions issued by the parliament on the suspension of all financial and banking dealings with Kurdistan and the sale of foreign currency to banks operating in the provinces of Arbil, Simaniyah and Dohuk."
He stressed that "the matter includes banks that have branches in the said provinces and their customers in order to maintain the reserve of the Central Bank of foreign currency and prevent leakage."
He added that "the purpose of the meeting and hosting is to resolve all the problems and obstacles to the implementation of the Central Bank of these decisions and the process and to proceed with those procedures."
