    [rtl]At least 37 people have been killed and 40 missing after floods and landslides swept north and central Vietnam, disaster management officials said.[/rtl]
    [rtl]Heavy rains hit large swathes of the country this week, and Hoa Binh province in northern Vietnam recorded the worst toll with 11 people killed and 21 missing.[/rtl]
    [rtl]At least 37 people have been killed in six provinces, according to the Minister of Disaster Management, while efforts are being made by the authorities to search for dozens of missing people.[/rtl]
    [rtl]At least 18 people were killed overnight in landslides in Huah Binh province, and 15 people are still missing, according to official media.[/rtl]
    [rtl]The disaster management agency said at least 400 mm of rain had hit northern and central Vietnam since Sunday.[/rtl]
    [rtl]Last September, typhoon Doxori struck central Vietnam, killing 11 people and destroying thousands of homes.[/rtl]
    [rtl]Some 170 people have been killed or missing this year as a result of natural disasters that have caused damage of $ 36 million, according to official figures.[/rtl]
