{International: Al Furat News} The World Bank has approved an additional $ 400 million in funding for Iraq to help rebuild services in areas that have been re-established by Dahesh after a three-year military campaign.
The bank said in a statement on Tuesday it would fund studies on how the private sector would participate in the reconstruction of Mosul airport and the restoration of public transport stations as well as parts of the railway network.
"This aid package represents additional funding for Iraq's emergency operation for the $ 350 million development project approved by the Bank earlier in July 2015 and already underway in seven cities in Diyala and Salahaddin provinces," the bank said.
"The new funding will focus on reconstruction in five sectors, including water, sanitation, electricity, health, transport and municipal services," he said.
The funding will also help restore and preserve cultural heritage sites in the ancient city of Mosul, which has been severely damaged by the fighting.
Iraqi government forces, backed by the US-led international coalition, regained control of Mosul in May after nearly nine months of fighting.

The World Bank said it had agreed to an additional $ 400 million in funding to help rebuild services in Iraqi areas restored by government troops from a militant group after a three-year military campaign.
