[ltr]The White House announced that US Vice President Mike Pence's visit to the Middle East would be postponed until mid-January amid continuing protests against Trump's decision to consider Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.[/ltr]
[ltr]The postponement of Bens's visit comes at a time when the US administration is preparing a decisive vote on the new tax law in Congress, as well as the announcement of the Palestinian Authority's refusal to receive it following the Trump decision on Jerusalem.[/ltr]
[ltr]Bens's visit to Egypt and Israel was due to begin on Tuesday, but was delayed until mid-January, allowing Benes to remain in Washington if his Senate vote is needed to approve President Trump's tax reforms.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The vote on the tax law is still in good shape, but we do not want to take any risks whatsoever," a senior administration official said.[/ltr]
[ltr]The US Constitution states that a vice president has the right to vote in the Senate if there is a tie.[/ltr]
[ltr]Officials denied the postponement of Pence's visit was prompted by the wave of angry demonstrations that followed Trump's announcement of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Dec. 6.[/ltr]
[ltr]This announcement led to a series of demonstrations and the cancellation of Palestinian, Muslim and Coptic officials for their meetings with the Vice-President.[/ltr]
[ltr]On Monday, the United States vetoed a Security Council resolution condemning US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Washington looked completely isolated internationally after the rest of the 14 member states voted in favor of the draft resolution.[/ltr]
[ltr]Egypt has submitted the draft resolution on Jerusalem, which warns of the "serious repercussions" of the American decision to recognize the Holy City as the capital of Israel, and calls for its abolition.[/ltr]

    Information / Baghdad ..
The White House announced on Tuesday that it was postponing a visit by US Vice President Mike Pence to the Middle East next month.
The postponement attributed the postponement, in a statement carried by the Associated Press, to the US Senate held a hearing to vote on President Donald Trump's plan for tax reform.
The decision comes hours after the United States vetoed a draft resolution submitted by Egypt to the Security Council nullifying Trump's decision to consider Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Pens planned to visit Egypt and Israel, without going to the Palestinian territories, after the controversy raised by the Trump decision on Jerusalem and the refusal of the Palestinian presidency to receive him.
The Palestinian Authority announced its boycotting of Pence, and did not hold any meetings with him during his visit to Israel. Religious leaders, including the sheikh of al-Azhar and the Coptic Pope, also refused to meet him in protest against US President Donald Trump's decision. Ending / 25
