    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Regions and Governorates, Representative Jawad Al-Yassari, revealed today, Saturday (November 9, 2024), political dialogues to resolve differences over controversial laws.
The leftist said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The blocs and parties are currently conducting political dialogues among themselves in order to resolve the differences over the controversial suspended laws, most notably the general amnesty law, the personal status law, and the law to return lands to their owners. There is hope that the differences will be resolved within the next two days, with the continuation of the dialogues."
He explained that "after resolving the differences over these laws in a final manner, they will be included on the agenda for the purpose of voting on them, otherwise they will not be put to a vote in light of the differences, and this means the failure to vote on them will continue, and for this reason the dialogues are being held in the hope of resolving the matter within two days and voting on them will take place during this week."
The crisis of the "four laws" is still ongoing inside the parliament dome, without the political blocs reaching solutions regarding it, as the disagreements revolve around merging the passage of four controversial laws on the parliament's session agenda, which are the draft law to return the properties covered by some of the decisions of the Revolutionary Command Council, amending the Personal Status Law, the second amendment to the General Amnesty Law, and the Service and Retirement Law for the Mujahideen of the Popular Mobilization Authority, which has sparked widespread parliamentary criticism, stressing that linking the laws according to the principle of one basket enhances certain political interests .
On October 31, parliament members elected Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani as the new speaker of the council, after he received 153 votes out of a total of 271, beating his competitor, MP Salem Al-Issawi, who received only 95 votes .
