The Oil Products Distribution Company announced today, Friday, the launch of GPRS systems in the tanks transporting oil products, stressing that this step contributed to significantly reducing the smuggling of oil derivatives.
The company's general manager, Hassan Taleb, said in an interview followed by "Mawazine News" that "the Oil Products Distribution Company, affiliated with the Ministry of Oil, launched several applications and software to monitor and combat the smuggling of oil products using the GPRS system that has entered into use."
He pointed out that "about 50% of the tanks, equivalent to 14,000 tanks, whether governmental or private, have had the system installed out of 25,000 tanks."
Taleb added that "other software will be added later to monitor the loading and unloading of the tanks, as these systems have been distributed to the joint checkpoints, and will also be distributed to the National Security Agency and the Energy Police Directorate to monitor smuggling operations."
