The conclusion of the Ninth International Scientific Conference of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basra and these are its recommendations

[rtl]Basra / NINA / The sessions of the Ninth International Scientific Conference of the College of Veterinary Medicine - University of Basra concluded in Basra Governorate, which was held under the slogan (Veterinary Medicine.. A Safety Valve for Food Safety and Economic Development.) with the participation of a number of researchers and professors from Iraq, Arabs and foreigners. It lasted for two days.
The Dean of the College, Dr. Jalal Yassin Mustafa, told the Iraqi National News Agency ( NINA ) that 75 scientific research papers out of 100 papers submitted to the committee were discussed in the conference over two days and in two morning and evening sessions, in several axes, including the basic sciences axis, the veterinary medicine sciences axis and the clinical sciences axis, with the participation of researchers and professors from universities and research centers in Iraq, as well as researchers from Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Syria.
He added that the conference came out with a number of recommendations that would improve the reality of veterinary medicine and protect livestock, "which are" risk assessment for animals and their products, activating the "early warning" system, increasing interest in the media aspect and veterinary awareness and guidance programs, and activating the role of Iraqi universities and their specialized departments. Through active participation in developing plans to control emergency communicable and epidemic diseases.
He added that the conference stressed conducting more epidemiological studies on hemorrhagic fever at close intervals to limit the emergence of new viral strains that are difficult to control, activating the role of slaughterhouses and veterinary quarantines at the borders, and using modern technology to detect diseases as a means of protecting livestock in Iraq from imported diseases.
Mustafa pointed out that the conference participants stressed reducing the random slaughter of animals and limiting this to veterinary slaughterhouses, taking into account safety conditions and veterinary examination in order to provide healthy food free of diseases.
The Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine continued, "The conference also stressed in its recommendations the activation of comprehensive vaccination programs to protect against diseases, preserve livestock, poultry and fish wealth, and urge companies to produce effective vaccines Instead of importing them and supporting research projects related to the epidemiology of imported and emerging diseases, and their causative factors. Pointing out that there are other recommendations that came out of the conference for joint work between the medical, agricultural, scientific and environmental scientific research sectors in order to establish the concept of One Health. / End[/rtl]
