Parliamentarian: Cancellation of the international coalition withdrawal agreement from Iraq is possible

Member of the Security and Defense Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, Yasser Iskandar Watout, confirmed that all possibilities are open regarding the Baghdad-Washington agreement on the withdrawal of international coalition forces, including its cancellation.
"Every new American president who comes to power brings with him his own administration and team, but given that he has not yet assumed power and that may take until next January, it does not seem clear yet," Woot said in televised statements.
He added: "So far, we do not know Trump's specific directions, whether he will maintain the agreement on the withdrawal of international coalition forces or cancel it."
The member of the House of Representatives for Babil Governorate pointed out that “the issue is related to the government, considering that the decision and the last committee were formed by order of the Prime Minister, headed by the Minister of Defense and the membership of the Chief of Staff of the Army and some of the leaders and joint operations.”
Watout pointed out that “the decision is related to a government with a government, but it may not be far from canceling the agreement,” noting that “the data is unknown and the decision is up to the new American administration and anything is possible.”
Over the past few months, Baghdad and Washington have reached an agreement on the withdrawal of the international coalition forces - which were formed in 2014 to support Iraq against ISIS - from Iraq, according to a plan that will be implemented in stages over the next two years.
