The Association of Hajj and Umrah Companies in the Supreme Council of Hajj and Umrah of Iraq said on Thursday that Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has approved the operation of pilgrims' flights to and from Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports.
The member of the Association, Mahmoud Abdullah, said: "Mr. Abadi's approval was obtained by opening the Sulaymaniyah and Erbil airports to transport Iraqi immigrants to and from the two airports above after submitting a request from the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in the Region addressed to the Supreme Commission for Hajj and Umrah. .
Adding that, "will be adopted a new mechanism for the conduct of flights," saying that "the Ministry of Awqaf in the region will send a delegation on the demarcation of the mechanism and very soon is to start work."
On Tuesday, Iraqi and Kurdish local media circulated a book issued by the Iraqi International Aviation Authority (IAA) under the Federal Ministry of Transport, which approved Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi's approval of the takeoff and landing of pilgrims from Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports.
