President Donald Trump has repeatedly described Middle East countries as so rich that they do not even know what they are making with their money. He reiterated his determination to push those countries "what they have to do."
Trump said in a speech to his supporters in Michigan that his country had spent seven billion dollars in the Middle East "wasted and did not get anything from it."
He added that he had asked the countries of the region to pay for what they had. "We will make them spend and spend," he said, noting that they are fluctuating in money so that they are hesitant about how to spend it.
Trump said in earlier statements that some countries in the Middle East "will not last a week without US protection."
In a press conference with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macaron last week, he said he wanted these countries - which he did not name - to pump money and soldiers to support US efforts in Syria.
