{Baghdad: Al-Furat News} The seats of the province of Baghdad, the {share of the lion} in the electoral battle between the blocs and political alliances participating in the elections of the Council of Representatives scheduled next.
The number of seats in the capital in parliament is 71 seats, and reflects the large number of candidates and political entities in Baghdad alone, the ferocity of the electoral battle for parties to obtain, which is equivalent to seats in six provinces.
Of the 2,188 candidates in Baghdad alone, 41 are political parties and parties to fill 71 seats in Baghdad, according to its population, including 17 seats reserved for women. There are two seats reserved for minorities belonging to Christians and Sabians.
Statistics estimate that the population of Baghdad is about seven and a half million people and is distinguished from other provinces by mixing religious, ethnic and national, so all parties in different directions have the opportunity to compete for about a quarter of the seats of parliament, but the biggest competition will be between the main parties.
