    Gold prices fall as the dollar gains


    Gold prices fell on Friday as the dollar rose slightly, ignoring tensions in the Middle East.
    Spot gold fell 0.2 percent to $ 1318.85 an ounce by 05:53 GMT after rising to its highest level since the end of April at $ 1322.76 in the previous session.
    The yellow metal was down 0.2 percent at $ 1319.10 an ounce in June.
    The dollar index rose slightly on Friday, but remains below the four-and-a-half-month high on Wednesday.
    Among other precious metals, silver rose 0.1 percent to $ 16.70 an ounce, after hitting a two-week high of $ 16.75 an ounce in the previous session.
    Platinum fell 0.2 percent to $ 921.90 an ounce, after hitting its highest level since April 25 at $ 927.20 an ounce on Thursday.
    Palladium fell 0.6 percent to $ 992.97 an ounce, after hitting a two-week high of $ 1002.10 an ounce in the previous session.
