A Fatah leader demands a UN complaint against Turkey

The leader of the Fatah alliance, Haneen Qaddou, called Monday for the Iraqi government to lodge a complaint with the United Nations to pressure Turkey to ensure that Iraq gets its water share in the Tigris River. He stressed that the water crisis was aggravated by successive governments that did not pay any attention to this issue.
"The central government bears full responsibility for the suffering of Iraq from the water crisis and drought of the Tigris River and economic and environmental disasters," Qaddo said in a televised statement. "The Ministry of Water Resources was better able to build dams and reservoirs to contain and use water in cases Emergency, and benefit from agriculture. "
"Iraq is facing a great environmental, economic and human disaster, because of successive governments that have not given any attention to the water issue," he said.
He explained that "solving the water crisis depends on submitting a complaint to the United Nations in order to pressure Turkey to ensure Iraq's access to its water quota in addition to several deterrent measures by the government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hold meetings and meetings to resolve things and avoid the disaster."
