A spokesman for the Israeli Prime Minister for Arab Media, Ophir Gendelman, announced the participation of an Israeli delegation in a conference on heritage in the State of Bahrain.
"An Israeli delegation is participating in the UNESCO World Heritage Committee conference which is being held today in the Bahraini capital of Manama," Gendelman said through his official Twitter account.
The World Heritage Committee meeting of UNESCO began its forty-second session under the chairmanship of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the attendance of representatives of the Committee members from the 21 member states of the Committee in Manama on Monday (June 25th).
The seventh channel of Hebrew, said on Thursday evening that the agenda of the World Heritage Committee in Bahrain will not discuss the issue of severing the relationship between the Jewish people and the cities of Jerusalem and Hebron.
The Ambassador of Israel to UNESCO, Carmel Kahan, said that his country succeeded diplomatically after the deletion of an item on the issue of severing the relationship between the Jewish people and the cities of Jerusalem and Hebron from the agenda of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO.
"The only way to achieve and change things on important and sensitive issues, such as talking about the holy sites in Jerusalem, needs to be done with tact and diplomacy," he said, as was the case with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Jordan's King Abdullah two days ago.
According to Kahan, he demanded that his country not rush to withdraw from UNESCO because the organization did not take an anti-Israel decision during the whole year, which he described as the diplomatic success of Tel Aviv, and the need to coordinate with the United States of America on withdrawal from the organization.
The Jerusalem Post reported that the king of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa, denounced the boycott of Israel by Arab states, saying that he would leave the citizens of his kingdom free to travel to Tel Aviv.
The Israeli newspaper said that the remarks of Ben Issa came in the context of an interview quoted by Rabbi Abraham Cooper, head of the Center, Simon Rosenthal, while attending an event attended by several officials of different nationalities in Los Angeles, America to sign a declaration condemning religious hatred and violence.
Rabbi Cooper and his partner Rabbi Marvin Haier Zara of Manama earlier this year met with then-King of Bahrain and discussed with him the possibility of establishing a Museum of Religious Tolerance in Manama.
The Kingdom of Bahrain won the chairmanship of the World Heritage Committee during the 21st meeting of the General Assembly of the countries participating in the World Heritage Convention of 1972, which was held from 14 to 15 November 2017 at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.
The Committee is composed of the membership of 21 countries, all of which participated in the 1972 World Heritage Convention. The Kingdom won the membership seat for four years.
