The White House announced that US President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are supporting talks between the United States and the European Union on removing trade barriers.

Washington - Sputnik . "They strongly supported the ongoing discussions between Washington and Brussels on removing barriers, which hinder the deepening of trade relations," the statement said.
The conversation took place against the backdrop of Trump's free trade agreement with Mexico, bypassing Canada, which was the third party in the talks.
Trump has repeatedly said he prefers bilateral trade treaties on multilateralism, butthe US administration is still negotiating with the EU, not with individual EU states.
