In a statement not without excitation, the Iranian Minister of Security Mahmoud Alawi announced that his ministry had succeeded in reaching a member of the government hostile to his country, referring to former Israeli Energy Minister Gonen Segev.
Tasnim news agency said in an interview that the Iranian intelligence official revealed that hours ago in an interview with the network "Khobar" in the context of the achievements of his ministry, especially in the field of anti-espionage.
"You have recently heard that we have been able to reach a member of the government of an enemy country," the Iranian minister said, without revealing the name of the country concerned.
"The anti-espionage division is one of the most powerful and sophisticated divisions in the Ministry of Security and one of the most powerful divisions in the world's intelligence operations," he said.
Israeli media, including the Jerusalem Post two months ago, reported that the Israeli internal security agency arrested former energy minister Gunen Segev, on charges of spying for Iran.
