Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Electricity announced that all regular and informal properties will be covered by the smart transformation system, while confirming that some agricultural areas have installed standards that operate according to the red card.
The ministry’s spokesman, Ahmed Musa, said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, followed by “Al-Iqtisad News,” that “the budget law approved by the House of Representatives stipulates that the Ministry of Electricity shall systematically inventory agricultural areas, and prepare statements of the networks and required quantities, but on the condition that it achieves two points.” The first is to stop slums, that is, the inventory is done based on the reality of the situation, and the second is to grant regular networks to agricultural areas as an investment opportunity for the benefit of companies, and the costs are deducted from the collection funds,” indicating that “the Ministry has finished preparing complete statements, but the investment opportunities have not been announced.” Until now".
Musa explained, "Some agricultural areas were fed with electrical energy and they became a reality. Standards were set for them, and some worked according to the red card, to reduce wasted energy, collect electricity fees, and maximize resources."
He stressed that "the Ministry of Electricity intends to adopt the smart transformation of the electrical network by the middle of this year 2024, as it has elected approximately 14 regions, part of which is in Baghdad and the other part in some governorates, and will work according to the smart transformation of the network and the installation of smart meters," indicating that "these regions will include all subscribers, whether They were residential, agricultural, regular, or commercial, including slums.”
