US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said US sanctions against Iran, which will come into effect after about a week, will be "the toughest" in history against Tehran.

In an interview with a US radio program, Pompeo said Iran "jeopardizes commercial civil aviation because of the actions it is taking."

The official pointed out that each agency or a United Nations agency, which reports on terrorism, identifies Iran as the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world.

The US Secretary of State that his country "urged its European partners to help them in the face of Iranian behavior."

As for the nuclear agreement with Tehran, which was withdrawn by US President Donald Trump, Pompeo said that "the firing of rockets and terrorism and the export of malicious behavior to all parts of the world, all occurred during the nuclear agreement."

"It was a bad deal for the US The president made a right decision to withdraw from the nuclear agreement, and all we ask of Iran is simply to be a normal state, stop exporting terrorism and using its agents to create chaos all over the world."

The new US sanctions will come into force on the morning of November 5.
