WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump will not change his decision to withdraw his troops from Syria , despite the resignation of Defense Secretary James Matisse and the US special envoy to the international coalition against "Ba'ath" Brett McGuck , a White House official said. "I think the president from the beginning told people that he did not want to stay in Syria forever," White House Chief of Staff Mick Malfani told ABC News in response to a question about whether Trump might change the decision to withdraw. The end result of two years of work ".

"Trump was not surprised by the resignation of Defense Minister Matisse, and Trump and Matisse simply were not able to reach an agreement at all," Malfani said, adding that "the president has told people since the presidential election campaign that he wants to leave Syria, and I think he has the right to have A defense minister who shares the view and is committed to the same goal. "

Malvana stressed that "Trump will implement its decision on Syria , even if he had to face with the Defense Ministry , " explaining that " the withdrawal of troops is a promise by the President of the United States ... and this can bother a lot of people, but in return will appeal to many of those who voted for him" .
