OPEC Secretary-General Mohamed Barkindo denied that OPEC is manipulating oil prices, at a time when OPEC is leading production cuts to strike a balance between supply and demand in the markets.

In response to a question on the adoption of a bill in the US House of Representatives a bill aimed at reducing the supply of oil, "OPEC," Barkindo said on the sidelines of the Conference of the energy sector in Cairo, on Monday, "Our work is not manipulation of prices, so it is unfair to accuse us."

A bill in the US House of Representatives approved last Thursday, the draft law, which will introduce the Organization "OPEC" for lawsuits on charges of monopoly, but it is not sure if the Council will be considered by the whole.

In the oil markets, prices stabilized during the day, despite the growing US drilling activities, and fears of demand for crude due to the slow progress in the US-China trade talks.

At 0945 GMT, global crude was trading at $ 62.13 per barrel, without a change from the previous closing price of only 3 cents, while West Texas Intermediate crude was down 27 Cents to $ 52.45 a barrel.
