On Thursday, the leader of the Azm Alliance, Raad Al-Dahlaki, revealed that it is impossible to amend the internal regulations of the House of Representatives regarding the election of a new speaker, after the Federal Court’s decision to terminate the membership of Mohammed Al-Halbousi.
Al-Dahlaki said in an interview followed by Mawazine News: "The current political circumstances are pushing towards holding an electoral session next week, as it is expected that the file of the new president will be resolved quickly thanks to political pressures and strong will."
He pointed out that "the presidential candidates are present and there is no need for re-nomination, and whoever gains the confidence of the representatives will be the next president."
He added, "The political forces have not yet been able to agree on a new president since the court's decision in November 2023, while the Coordination Framework set July 20 as the date to resolve Sunni differences over the position, with the possibility of leaving the matter to the representatives to choose the president after this date."
