Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, inaugurated, this afternoon, Thursday, July 25, 2024, the first phase of the associated water injection project with a capacity of 300,000 barrels per day in the northern Rumaila field in Basra Governorate.
Abdul Ghani told Baghdad Today, "This project will contribute to investing the associated water to support the reservoir pressure and reduce dependence on the Shatt al-Arab waters, leading to not exploiting them for water injection purposes after the completion of the seawater project, which is expected to be completed in 2028."
He said, "The second phase of the project has reached 20% completion with a capacity of 300,000 barrels per day," stressing that "work is underway extensively by the Basra Oil Company to complete the second phase."
This morning, Thursday, the Minister of Oil opened the Zubair 2 warehouse in Basra Governorate, after adding new turbine pumps with a capacity of 2.3 million barrels per day.
