The Parliamentary Integrity Committee called on Saturday for transparent investigations after the overthrow of a smuggling network in the North Oil Company.
Member of the Integrity Committee, MP Gharib Askar, told /Al-Maalouma/ agency, "A joint security team succeeded in a qualitative operation that lasted days of monitoring and tracking to arrest some of those involved in the smuggling of crude oil from the North Oil Company."
He added that "what was achieved represents an important step in combating corruption and harming national wealth, stressing the need to form an investigative committee to uncover the circumstances of what happened, who gave the orders, what the approvals are, and to identify those responsible for this serious corruption."
He pointed out that "what happened requires administrative decisions to ensure the implementation of laws and the flexibility of investigations, which we hope will yield important results that will be presented to public opinion."
