BAGHDAD - A member of the High Commission for Human Rights, Ali Akram al-Bayati, on Saturday, the number of civilian casualties by the bombing of the international coalition to fight Da'ash in Iraq and Syria, pointing out that it reached 20 thousand during the past four years.
Al-Bayati said in a statement that "while appreciating the efforts of all parties involved in helping Iraq in its war against terrorism and appreciate the sacrifices they made, including the international coalition to fight Da'ash, where all these efforts contributed to the defeat of terrorism and gangs in Iraq and Syria, Of the existence of official international reports talking about the arrival of the number of victims in Iraq and Syria to 20 thousand dead and wounded. "
"These reports mention that the real preparation for the victims of the aerial bombardment carried out by the International Coalition over the past four years amounted to approximately 11,800 civilians, including 2300 children and 1130 women, in addition to 8000 wounded by the bombing of the coalition in Iraq and Syria."
"This preparation is far more substantial and differs radically from the official numbers published by the International Alliance, which was officially announced, which is 1139 civilians."
He said that "this preparation is true, it refers to clear violations of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Convention, which obliges all warring parties to abide by safety standards and to protect civilians and protect them in war."
A member of the High Commission for Human Rights, "the international coalition to fight Da'ash clarifying the truth of these figures because the numbers of numbers far exceeds the numbers of the coalition officially announced," adding "We also demand the Office of the Commander-in-Chief armed forces to form a committee of the relevant authorities in the Iraqi government with the membership of the High Commission for Human Rights Human rights as observers to ensure the real preparation of victims ".
He added that "the Iraqi government is also concerned to demand compensation for the victims and their families from the parties and the causative states. International humanitarian law, the Geneva Convention and its additional protocols oblige all countries and warring parties to safeguard the lives of civilians in war. It also imposes the search for people who violate these conventions and human rights in wars and conflicts. And prosecute them and surrender them to justice regardless of their nationality and affiliation. "
He called on "all victims and their families who were killed by the bombing of the International Coalition to review the offices of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to document the numbers and follow-up legal procedures for their rights." Finished
