Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi received a phone call from Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, during which he discussed expanding relations of cooperation between the two countries in all fields to achieve the common interests of the Iraqi and Saudi people and enhance the chances of security and stability in the region.
"The Saudi monarch confirmed his country's support for Iraq and its keenness on its security, stability and prosperity, and renewed support for the steps taken by the Iraqi government and its direction in the reconstruction of Iraq," a statement by the office of Abdul Mahdi told the news agency.
Abdul-Mahdi expressed "great thanks and gratitude for the support shown by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Iraq and its pride in the level of relations between the two countries and the two peoples and his aspiration for further economic, trade and oil cooperation and building partnership relations that serve the two peoples and the region and enhance its security and stability."
