A member of Iran's Islamic Consultative Assembly, Shademahir Kazemzadeh, on Sunday called for a speedy opening of the border crossing with Iraq.
"The opening of this crossing is a necessity for the whole country and it is important for the commercial and economic exchange between Iran and Iraq," Kazimzadeh said, according to Fars News Agency.
The Gilat crossing is located in the Dahlran border area of the province of Ilam in western Iran, and offset by the crossing of Shihabi in Wasit province on the Iraqi side.
