BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq has the ability to press the United States for an extension to exclude the economic embargo against Iran, a parliamentary member of the Iraqi parliament said on Saturday.

Al-Hamdi said that Iraq has a lot of diplomatic pressure on the United States to obtain a special exception on the import of Iranian gas operating power stations, adding that the non-extension of the import of Iranian gas will cause a service disaster in the coming days due to high temperatures and the inability of Iraq to operate its electrical stations.
Hamidi said the United States viewed Iraq, unlike its Persian Gulf states, as it had the ability to maneuver and press for an exemption on Iranian goods and gas.
