Iraqi farmers throw their crops in the landfill and appeal to the government to intervene

The deputy mayor of Sinjar district, former MP Mahma Khalil on Tuesday demanded to support the peasants and farmers and compensate their losses as a result of the wrong policy. He criticized "the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, which he said is completely absent from what is happening in the agricultural sector."
Khalil said in a statement that "the crops of farmers and farmers in Sinjar and Nineveh Plain throw their crops in the landfill because of the loss of government support, where the price of a basket of agricultural crops does not exceed only 250 dinars."
"There is no protection for the national product or customs tariff," he said.
"These people depend on their only source of livelihood this season, so it is the duty of the government to create jobs for young people and take care of their interests to support the national product, and to add additional revenues to support the state budget which depends only on oil," he said.
"When the state banned imports, it had to subsidize the national product, operate the factories and activate the manufacturing industry, but these productive segments feel injustice, exclusion and lack of attention to the lack of logistical provision and loss to protect the law," he said.
Turning to the Ministry of Agriculture, he said, "The ministry is completely absent and does not care for them, calling for" a strategic plan for the sustainability of crops and not to harm farmers and encourage them to continue the national crop. "
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture has announced at the end of August last continued to ban 15 plant crops, as well as table eggs, chicken and fish.
