US President Donald Trump has stressed the possibility of easing sanctions imposed by his administration on Iran, saying the latter wants to negotiate with the United States.
Trump did not rule out such a scenario in a White House press release late Wednesday, when asked about the possibility of easing "maximum pressure campaigns" on Iran: "We will see what happens."
Asked if he was considering holding a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Bush said he was "not considering anything".
Trump said Iran wanted to negotiate and strike a new deal with the United States, adding: "We would like to reach an agreement with Iran, but things will also be good if that doesn't happen."
Trump stressed, however, that the United States was not seeking regime change in Iran, but pointed out that uranium enrichment by the Iranian authorities is dangerous.
