    It seems that the file of restoring the price of the dollar to its previous level has begun to turn into a main file on the agenda of the House of Representatives, after it turned into a major obstacle to the passage of the 2021 budget.
     
    Head of Bayariq Al-Khair Parliamentary Bloc, MP Muhammad Al-Khaldi, said in press statements today, Sunday, that "the parliamentary pressure to change the dollar’s ​​exchange rate from its current position at 1450 dinars per dollar is continuous and has not stopped, but rather has doubled in recent times."
    He added, "The high selling prices of crude oil and the improvement in the general economic situation have made the exchange rate remaining in its current position not compatible with the nature of the economic scene, especially since there are large segments of Iraqi society affected by the price due to the high prices of major materials in the markets."
    Al-Khalidi said, "The continuing parliamentary pressure leads to a change in the exchange rate of the dollar in the 2021 budget, especially since many political forces have begun to realize the importance of the decision, especially as its justifications have disappeared with the recent rise in crude oil selling prices."
    Several representative political forces continue their campaign towards restoring the dollar’s ​​exchange rate to its previous position, or at least setting an average price that reduces the financial burden on large segments, including the poor, due to the increase in food prices.
     
    The price of the dollar ... a major obstacle to the budget
    Yesterday, MP Riyad Al-Masoudi revealed, in a press statement, that “the problems and disagreements about the draft budget law for the year 2021 are not related only to the share of the Kurdistan Region, but there are technical differences, including the issue of the exchange rate of the dinar against the dollar, as well as the issue of including job grades in the law, in addition to The surplus amounts with the rise in oil prices, and others. ”
    He added, "Until now, there is no agreement to pass the 2021 budget law during next Monday's session," explaining that "the inclusion of the law for a vote on it does not mean passing it or obtaining approval for that."
    Al-Masoudi ruled out "the possibility of passing the budget bill without the agreement of all political parties on it, but this agreement has not happened until now."
    According to MPs' statements, voting on the budget law depends on political consensus on points of contention more than it is linked to legal violations included in the law.
