Parliamentary Finance Resolves It: We Don't Have Any Authority to Change the Dollar

Shafq News/ The Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed on Sunday that the House of Representatives has no authority to change the exchange rate of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar in the general budget law, while pointing out that the change in the price will affect the structure of the budget.

"The exchange rate of the dollar cannot be reduced in the budget law, and any change will affect the structure of the budget and change its provisions and articles of law," committee member Ahmed al-Hajj Rashid told Shafq News.

"Any change in the exchange rate will cause a reduction in fiscal revenues in the budget law, increased expenditures and increased fiscal deficits," he said, adding that "parliament has no power to change the exchange rate."
