    Economy News - Baghdad
The Federal Integrity Commission announced today, Tuesday, that it had uncovered delays in establishing a park project worth (2.4) billion dinars, and violations in the maintenance and rehabilitation project of Karbala International Stadium.
The Commission stated in a statement received by "Al-Eqtisad News" that "a team from the Commission's investigation office in Karbala, after moving to the development and reconstruction affairs in the governorate, detected violations in the establishment of a major park project in Al-Hur district, which cost (2,498,752,750) two billion dinars, represented by a clear delay in implementation, and the failure to take legal measures against the contractor responsible for the company to which the project was referred."
She added that "it was sufficient to send a warning letter only without issuing an official warning and withdrawing the work from the contractor," noting that "the remaining work was carried out at his expense through another contractor, in violation of the instructions for implementing government contracts, which led to a delay in completing the project, and not receiving it as a final receipt, despite the passage of a year from the date of initial receipt, and the contractor's account was not settled due to the failure to implement all contractual obligations, which caused a waste of public money."
The Commission continued, "The team also revealed violations in the contract concluded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Karbala with one of the sports investment companies, as it noticed negligence and shortcomings on the part of the company in maintaining the Karbala International Stadium; due to its lack of specialized cadres, and its method of work in using mechanization, in addition to not addressing the observations related to the artificial turf of the track during the maintenance period."
She pointed out that "the Department of Regional and Provincial Affairs did not pay attention to the specific observations, despite the Resident Engineer Department submitting several warning notes regarding the poor playing field, and the need to find solutions and provide a specialized cadre with experience in the field of agricultural work," noting that "the negligent parties were not held accountable and the company was contracted as a subcontractor, even though it is considered one of the unreliable companies."
