, Iraqi unions and federations met, today, Sunday, at the Engineers Syndicate Club, to discuss the general budget law, and determine the most important observations regarding it.
The trade unions issued a statement read by the head of the Iraqi Bar Association, Diaa Al-Saadi, in which they clarified their vision regarding the budget.
The statement said, "Months continue, and the draft budget for 2021 ranges under the dome of Parliament between political blocs that deliberately ignore popular demands to ensure a minimum of decent living for the segments below the poverty line, whose numbers increase, their suffering exacerbates, and their inability to provide a livelihood doubles."
And the statement pointed out that the method of preparing this budget did not differ from its predecessors, as it is a budget of items and not a budget for programs and goals, in contradiction to the so-called "white paper".
The statement warned against selling state assets from real estate and agricultural lands, indicating that it will return Iraq to the era of feudalism with new and old faces.
