    Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Agriculture and Water Committee, Mansour Al-Baiji, spoke today, Wednesday, about the repercussions of the challenge to the paragraph of increasing the prices of crops in the budget.
    Al-Baiji said, in a statement received by the "National News Center", that "the government's challenge to the paragraph of increasing agricultural crops for wheat, barley and rye that was added by the House of Representatives in the current year's budget, which was added to the fairness of Iraqi farmers and support for the agricultural sector in general in our country."
    He added, "The provision of support for these agricultural crops by the government is very important and will contribute to upgrading their cultivation and reaching self-sufficiency, as happened in the cultivation of other agricultural crops, instead of going to import them from other countries, which will harm the economy in general for the country, not to mention the damage to our agricultural sector, which It is considered one of the most important sectors after oil, so it must be fully upgraded and supported.”
    Al-Baiji called on the government to “refrain from appealing this paragraph regarding the increase in agricultural crops and withdraw this appeal in order to proceed with the fairness of the agricultural sector and the Iraqi farmer in order to advance and provide more in the production of these crops and to close the page of importing them from outside the country once and for all, as it will contribute to upgrading our economic reality and providing appropriate storage for our country away from import.
    And he continued, "The government should take into account the great injustice and injustice that the Iraqi farmer is subjected to, especially in delaying receiving their financial dues after delivering their agricultural crops while they are suffering greatly, so the farmer must be supported and expedited disbursing their dues without any delay in order to improve our agricultural reality and close the door for importing." These crops are from outside the country.”
