The Ministry of Electricity confirmed, on Wednesday, that there is a surplus in the number of employees that will be distributed among the departments, and while it indicated that the solar energy projects will contribute to the production of 7,000 megawatts, it sent a request to four ministries.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Moussa, said, in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency and followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "there is a surplus in the number of employees within the ministry, they will be transferred and distributed to the departments, in addition to transferring those who had the desire to a second ministry."
Moussa called on the Ministry of Finance to provide the necessary funds for electricity projects, as well as to complete the fuel plan from the Ministry of Oil, and to complete the governing projects by the Ministry of Planning, in addition to the Ministry of Industry’s support for electricity in terms of transformers and cables, and to activate quality control devices by the Ministry of Trade. In order to impose control over inferior goods and devices and replace them with devices commensurate with the national network, he called on the Ministries of Defense and Interior to protect the national system, power transmission lines and working staff, in addition to increasing water levels by the Ministry of Water Resources to operate steam stations in an appropriate manner, and to provide land by Baghdad Municipality for the construction of solar power plants.
He explained, "The ministry has international agreements and protocols with the Iranian side to supply gas to Iraq," noting that "the percentage of gas stations compared to other lights amounted to 80 percent, and in the event of the completion of the national plan of the Ministry of Oil, the gas stations will operate fully."
He added, "The ministry's five-year plan is within the government program and is affiliated with the ministry and is not linked to the survival or departure of a minister," noting that "the minister of electricity is tasked with setting policy and following it up to achieve the five-year plan."
He pointed out that "the ministry has received offers from companies to build solar panels, and they have been studied in all respects," noting that "solar energy projects will contribute to the production of 7500 megawatts."
