The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Water and Marshlands stressed, on Thursday, the importance of expanding the export of surplus agricultural products, in particular to Arab and regional markets.

The head of the committee, Salam Al-Shammari, said in a statement, which "people" received a copy of (March 25, 2021), "The Iraqi market has been open for several years to most Arab, regional and global products, both good and bad."
He added, "The past period did not witness an effective Iraqi move to supplement the budget with new funds by exporting the surplus of our agricultural products to new markets and not limiting it to a few markets."
Al-Shammari called on the government to include exporting the surplus of our products in any agreement it concludes, whether it is with Jordan and Egypt, or with other Arab, regional and international countries, especially since Iraq enjoys its distinctive products that are required in global markets, such as dates and various types of fruits and vegetables.
