, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced today, Sunday, the number of loans granted to the unemployed, while clarifying the details of those loans.
"The Ministry of Labor is concerned with job seekers, as it includes the Department of Labor and Vocational Training for granting loans and registering job seekers," noting that "there are more than one million and 700 thousand unemployed persons registered in the ministry's data," said Najm Al-Uqabi, the director of the ministry's media.
He added, "The ministry grants small loans, which amounted to 31 meals, i.e. an average of 50,000 loans over these years to establish small projects," explaining that "soft loans are repaid over a period of 5 years, where the first year is a grace period, which is in convenient installments."
He added, "The ministry is looking to support this category, especially young people, in coordination with the relevant institutions in order to alleviate and reduce the percentage of the unemployed."
Regarding the Social Security Law, he stressed that "the ministry has the Social Security Department concerned with the private sector, where we are waiting for the approval of the retirement law, which was read the second time and did not vote on it," noting that "the law has very great privileges that take care of the private sector."
On October 3, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs clarified the reasons for the delay in launching a new batch of loans for job seekers, noting that the health conditions that passed in the country and the world necessitated the ministry’s consideration of the conditions of borrowers and the delay in repayment of the loan amount, which led to the delay in launching new meals.
