Iraqi military confirmation: There is no delay in the date of the withdrawal of US combat forces

Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Joint Operations Command confirmed on Saturday that there is no intention to postpone the date of the withdrawal of US combat forces from the country.

The spokesman for the leadership, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, told Shafaq News Agency, "The date for the withdrawal was previously set and will be on January 31, 2021, and it is not extendable according to the agreement between the Iraqi and American sides," stressing that "there is no intention to postpone this date for any other date." .

Al-Khafaji pointed out that "the tasks of the US forces will shift after this date (12/31/2021) to consulting, training, equipping and exchanging intelligence information, according to the agreement between Baghdad and Washington," explaining that "Iraq will be after this date devoid of any combat forces on the ground."

Iraq and the United States agreed last July to withdraw all American combat forces from Iraq by the end of this year.

Armed Shiite factions threaten to launch "decisive battles" on the night of the 31st of next month if US forces do not withdraw from the country they entered in 2003.
