[size=45]The Integrity Commission said that it was able to seize two cases of extortion and bribery, in exchange for not implementing the instructions and laws, pointing to the seizure of containers without a matching document in the port of Umm Qasr, and expired medicines in Basra Governorate.[/size]
[size=45]The authority stated in a statement received by (Al-Mada), that "the staff of the Basra Investigation Directorate were able to arrest the head of the Services Committee and lift the abuses in the mayor of Al-Zubair District, red-handed, for receiving the bribe in flagrante delicto from a citizen in exchange for not removing the abuses."[/size]
[size=45]The statement added, "The seizure took place after the accused was followed up by the staff of the Investigation Directorate and an ambush was set for him in a restaurant in the city."[/size]
[size=45]He pointed out, “A suspect attributed to the Governorate Traffic Department was caught red-handed for receiving a bribe from a citizen; In exchange for not delivering his car to the car seizure department of the Basra Traffic Directorate.”[/size]
[size=45]The statement pointed out that "a third operation was carried out in the Customs Directorate of Umm Qasr North Port, which resulted in the seizure of a customs transaction for one of the companies, after discovering violations in it."[/size]
[size=45]He explained, "Those violations were represented by the employees of the customs office in Umm Qasr releasing 39 containers containing different materials without the presence of a document matching the materials, which is in violation of the customs instructions and results in smuggling and entering unauthorized materials."[/size]
[size=45]She pointed out that "the last operation was carried out in the port hospital and health centers in the center of Basra governorate and the districts of Zubair, Medina and Qurna, during which 1,114 expired drug strips were seized, the expiry date of which was tampered with."[/size]
[size=45]And she added, "This was done by placing (Label) indicating that the expiry date of the test strips is July 2022, while the real expiry date installed on the tapes refers to September 2021."[/size]
[size=45]The statement went on to “organize seizure records of the operations, which were carried out according to judicial seizure notes, and presented them, with the accused, to the judge of the Integrity Investigation Court in Basra, who decided to arrest them pending investigation.”[/size]
