    {Political: Al Furat News} The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, discussed Thursday at the Peace Palace in Baghdad with Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio the need to exert maximum efforts to defuse crises in the region.
    His media office stated in a presidential statement that {Euphrates News} received a copy of it that "during the meeting, the close relations that unite the two countries were emphasized, and the joint endeavor to strengthen them in various fields, and joint bilateral cooperation in facing various challenges, especially those related to combating terrorism and extremism, and strengthening Economic and cultural relations, facing the dangerous repercussions of climate change and protecting the environment.
    President Salih stressed the "deep Iraqi-Italian relations", praising "Italy's supportive role for the Iraqi security forces in combating terrorism within the international coalition and NATO, in addition to contributions in the humanitarian and social aspects."
    Regarding developments in the regional and international situations of common interest, Salih stressed the "necessity to exert maximum efforts to defuse crises in the region, and support the paths of dialogue in resolving existing differences, easing tensions and preventing escalation," noting that "Iraq's balanced policy supports stabilizing stability." He noted that a secure and stable Iraq with full sovereignty is an indispensable element for the security and stability of the entire region.
    In turn, Minister Luigi affirmed his country's commitment to supporting the security and stability of Iraq, praising the efforts made by Iraq on the regional arena to establish peace, noting that "the Italian government seeks to strengthen bilateral relations with Iraq in various fields."
