{Local: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Communications revealed the progress of Iraq at the level of countries in the world with Internet services.
Ministry spokesman, Raad al-Mashhadani told {Euphrates News}: "Iraq ranks 47th in the world in providing Internet services, after it was at the bottom of the classification according to the global statistics."
Al-Mashhadani attributed "this progress after a number of projects and measures implemented by the Ministry of Communications to improve the reality of Internet service."
It is noteworthy that specialists explain the reasons for the delay in Internet services in Iraq that the Ministry of Communications sells Internet packages to private companies, including “Earthlink” and “Iraqna” and others, and those private companies, in turn, sell the service to citizens with poor specifications and high prices.
They also attributed this to the fact that "there is a reluctance by the Ministry of Communications in extending the optical cable to homes across the country."
