Ambiguity surrounds the results of the meeting with Al-Amiri... and Al-Sadr undermines the hopes of the coordination framework
Jan 16 2022

Al-Sadr contented himself with emphasizing the "majority government" project.

The exact outcome of the meeting that brought together the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, with Hadi al-Amiri, one of the poles of the comprehensive coordinating framework of the Shiite forces competing to form the government, has not yet been clear.

The head of the Sadrist bloc refused to provide any information about the results of al-Sadr's meeting with al-Amiri in al-Hanana
The office of the leader of the movement was satisfied with a brief statement, Saturday, January 15, referring to the protocol ceremonies of the meeting in Al-Hanana.
While optimistic statements were made by parties in the coordination framework, some of which hinted at a "breakthrough" in al-Sadr's position, the leaders of the Sadrist bloc refused to provide any information about the results.

"Ultra Iraq" contacted the most prominent leader and head of the Sadrist bloc, MP Hassan Al-Adhari, to inquire about the outcome of the meeting, but Al-Adhari "sufficed with returning the greeting," stressing that "any statement will not be issued now about the meeting."
In turn, the former spokesman for the movement's leader, Sheikh Salah al-Obeidi, told "Ultra Iraq" that his mission is now limited to representing al-Sadr in Nineveh Governorate without other powers, noting that "his role as a spokesman for al-Sadr in political affairs has ended."
And "Ultra Iraq" learned, that Al-Sadr "issued strict directives stipulating that no statement about the movement and the current political consultations be made hours before the first session of Parliament, and confined it to the private office and whoever authorizes it."
On the other hand, Mahmoud Al-Hayani, a member of the Al-Fateh Alliance, said, "The meeting of Al-Sadr and Al-Amiri in Al-Hanana led to important understandings that may pave the way for the entry of a single parliamentary bloc that will be the largest bloc in the next parliamentary session."

Al-Hayani added in an interview with "Ultra Iraq", that "Al-Sadr raised several points to Al-Amiri, which are mature understandings to unite the Shiite house again, as in previous years, and with a single decision within Parliament, with the aim of ending the state of rift taking place," noting that "Al-Sadr did not make any exceptions." He did not request the exclusion of any party from the coordinating framework forces," referring to al-Sadr's position on the leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki.
A member of the Al-Fateh Alliance explained, "The meeting discussed the names proposed for prime minister, but it did not reach a final choice by the two parties," stressing that "the next stage will proceed according to the principle of consensus between Al-Sadr and the framework forces to resolve all differences."
Al-Hayani's statement was consistent with the assertions of other parties within the framework about "approaching an agreement with al-Sadr," but the latter reconfirmed his progress with a "majority government" in green and in his handwriting this time.
Al-Sadr, as indicated by political figures spoken to by Ultra Iraq, seeks to include Hadi al-Amiri only as a reliable party among the framework forces, which he explicitly referred to in an official statement, stressing that "the door is still open."
