    The Ministry of Justice announced, on Sunday, that it has taken intensive moves to recover the smuggled money and real estate located abroad, by filing hundreds of lawsuits, as well as preventing drug smuggling into Iraqi prisons.
    The Ministry's senior agent, Ziad Al-Tamimi, told the official "Al-Sabah" newspaper, which I reviewed. / The government has moved intensively to recover Iraq’s looted money and property, by filing hundreds of foreign lawsuits in this regard, and has concluded several memoranda of understanding in this aspect, revealing that “some countries have expressed their willingness to cooperate in this field, by returning their properties in the country, in exchange for Iraq has real estate.”
    Regarding the inmates who are placed in the reformatory homes of the ministry, he explained that “their number reaches 52,000, as reform programs are implemented for them to integrate into society, including programs for intellectual reform or programs to acquire life skills.”
    Al-Tamimi revealed “the ministry’s adoption of new reform programs, such as opening offices for reading books, and others for preparatory and university education in addition to graduate studies, and that there are organizations that will soon implement psychological assessment programs, especially for those convicted of terrorist cases, in addition to religious guidance programs and coordination with the Shiite and Sunni endowment departments.” .
    And he indicated that, "and with the aim of removing the bottlenecks experienced by the ministry's correctional prisons in Baghdad and the 21 provinces, it intends to implement several measures, the most important of which is the implementation of three correctional prisons, the first in the Khan Bani Saad area in Diyala, the second in Najaf Governorate, and the third in Wasit Governorate, with a capacity of 1,000." to 1500 guests.
    And the senior undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice continued, "The procedures also include the opening of the central prison in Hilla with a capacity of five to six thousand inmates, in addition to building additional halls inside the current prisons, to reduce overcrowding inside, in a way that ensures the achievement of the ministry's goals in reintegrating the inmate again into society."
    And regarding the reform programs implemented for foreign prisoners, the ministry’s senior undersecretary explained that it “will focus on those who suffer from extremist religious extremism,” noting that “the ministry is constantly coordinating with local and foreign civil society organizations, to establish programs to rehabilitate social researchers, and others for reformist guards because they are in direct contact. With inmates who must be dealt with privately because they suffer from psychological pressures.”
    He revealed the intention of "the ministry soon, to conclude a memorandum of understanding with a United Nations organization, to combat drugs inside correctional prisons," stressing "the development of mechanisms to deal and detect drug smuggling sites inside prisons, as well as care and communication with the families of a drug-abusing prisoner."
